Edmonton, Treaty 6 Territory – The Kapawe’no First Nation is proud of its develolment with the KFN School Hockey Academy and its newly formed minor hockey association – Miskwami Mitawiwin (Hockey) Kapawe’no.
“We are extremely proud and here to enjoy ourselves, represent Kapawe’no and showcase what we have been doing in hockey, let’s go out and have fun!”, said hereditary Chief Syd Halcrow.
The Alberta Native Provincials plays host every year to over one hundred teams who are competing hard and having fun throughout the city while acknowledging the lands of the Nêhiyawak and original peoples. 243 teams have entered within all minor hockeg divisions.
The Kapawe’no Muskwak started the morning of day one with some solid action on the ice.
A quick and exciting recap at 8:15am saw our U13 play host to Siksika Buffaloes 2, defeating them by a score of 7-6. Coached by Darren Martens and George Halcrow. Games are played at the Castledowns Twin Arena 11520 153 Ave.
Our U11 competed hard at 9:15am however fell short in a 11-5 matchup against the Siksika Winterhawks. Coached by Cory Cardinal Jr and James Neustaeter. Games are played at the River Cree Twin Rinks 300 Laptac Rd Enoch.
Our U9 played hard and managed to sneak a solid action packed hard skating challenge in against STL Blues Merlins. Coached by Jarett Knibb and Boh Kubrakovich-Kiniw. Games are played at the Clareview Arena 3804 139 Ave.
