Kapawe’no First Nation – Mr Brian Thomas has been with us for a few months and his philosophy of preparing for the high level is beginning to set in.
As a former world class long jumper Mr Thomas emphasis and concentration is on plyometric, bounding and running. Over his years of experience all sport is based in these three principals.
Running: To get from point A to point B fast and efficient without any wasted motion. Example head back, clench teeth and flagging arms takes away from the speed you’re trying to generate.
Plyometric: Is hopping, bounding and drop jumps in the form of plyometric, which enhances your physical endurance.
Bounding: Helps increase you’re running and explosive muscle in your body, enabling the athlete to perform at peak physical output.
The three discipline together will generate high performance athletes. Here at Kapaweno Nêhiyawak School athletes will be introduced to this type of training and recovery techniques.
His objective is to produce high performance multi-sport male and female athletes at Kapawe’no Nêhiyawak School.
